Below is my experience based on a three-night stay at the property.
My arrival experience: Warm welcome with a chocolate drink before being escorted to the room.
What I loved: A mix of everything. The contemporary design, the attention to details, the beach, the food, the location. My favourite Sofitel hotel in the world and surely a memorable one.
What about the food: Very impressive in every way. All my meals were of excellent quality and comparable to a Michelin recommended restaurant in Europe. Far from a star as it is not fine dining, but excellent quality and very unexpected in a location like this.
What about the service: Very good and attentive service. Very low occupancy at the hotel of course makes it easier, but I was impressed with what I saw.
What about the rooms: Beautiful, contemporary rooms. My room had a comfortable bed, working desk, flatscreen Tv, shower in bathtub and a balcony with beautiful sea views. I had preferred a standalone shower instead, but otherwise a wonderful room.
Number of rooms: 200.
Type of property: Something between a business hotel and resort. City resort is perhaps the best way to describe it.
Location: Near Malabo, Equatorial Guinea
Facilities: Spa, gym, pool and business/meeting facilities.
Complimentary internet: Yes and fast enough for videos and calls.
My overall impression: Great+ experience. My favourite Sofitel hotel in the world. Unexpected in a country like Equatorial Guinea.
